For many years, we have had a very strong partnership with the town of Cessenon-sur-Orb, which works to improve the living environment and develop local tourism. For the past four years, we have been carrying out volunteer projects to beautify the riverside recreation area. This area is intended for residents to relax and socialize, as well as for tourists passing through. This mosaic project contributes to the enhancement of the town.

Work: Come and discover the art of mosaics ! Your task will be to decorate picnic tables by the river, surrounded by the typical natural landscape of the south of France. Supervised by a specialist, this artistic workshop will follow on from last year s work on the theme of biodiversity. Mosaic work is fascinating and requires meticulousness, agility, and insight. The resulting artwork will embellish the recreation area while also serving to protect the tables in this sensitive natural space in a sustainable way. If you love nature and urban arts and are interested in biodiversity, this project is for you!

Accomodation and food: You will be accommodated in individual tents provided by Concordia near a sports facility. You must bring your own camping mattress and sleeping bag. Toilets and showers will be available inside the sports center. In case of high temperatures, an indoor shelter will be provided. A municipal space will serve as a living and dining area. Community life will be at the heart of the experience : you will share daily tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be given to the activity team, and you will participate in shopping and meal preparation, with an emphasis on healthy, local products. Your neighbors will surely treat you to their specialties!

Location and Leisure: The village of Cessenon-Sur-Orb is located north of Béziers in the south of France, halfway between the sea and the mountains. It is home to the Orb River, from which it takes its name. The area boasts an exceptional natural and cultural heritage ! The surrounding countryside offers a wide range of outdoor sports and activities. Beyond the river that runs through it, the town is located not far from the Mediterranean beaches (35 km). The Reals water sports center is a great place for water activities. You can hike in the famous Gorges d Héric or Gorges de la Colombière or try your hand at canoeing and kayaking. You can also enjoy cultural and festive discoveries. You will also be close to the two historic medieval towns of Narbonne (35 km) and Béziers (20 km). In Cessenon-sur-Orb, numerous cultural tours are also organized.

Requirements: As some leisure activities will involve the river, it is highly recommended that you know how to swim. Please fill the Parental Agreement and the Medical Fact Sheet as soon as possible (at least 3 weeks before the beginning of the workcamp). Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country. The vaccines proofs (a note from the doctor or a copy of the vaccines) is MANDATORY, see list in the Medical Fact Sheet. Unvaccinated volunteers will not be accepted.

If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than airplane) for a sustainable international workcamp. Remember to bring gloves, clothing, and sturdy shoes for the workday. Also remember to bring your sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, your swimsuit, and a beach towel! It is strongly recommended that you know how to swim if you want to enjoy the river. The days can be hot, but the nights can be cool. If you wish, you can also bring music or a typical object from your country/region to share your culture with the other participants.
