FSL India is a leading youth development organization promoting youth inclusion through volunteering and community development activities. It has been operating since 2001. FSL India’s roles and the development interventions through youth engagement at the grassroot level in the present local and global context are multi-dimensional as well as multi-directional. Under the three pillars and thematic areas of development interventions, FSL India focuses on youth volunteering, community development and education. Evers since came into being, FSL India has engaged more than 30k youth from 40+ countries, and contributed to community development process and youth integration through voluntary engagement, community development initiatives and educational programs that promote Social Leadership and Personal Social Responsibility (PSR).
Work: FSL-India runs an eco-friendly Centre for Experiential Living (CEL) in Kundapura, coastal Karnataka, surrounded by rich greenery. Established in 2014, the centre offers national and international volunteers hands-on learning in sustainable agriculture, environmental education, social leadership, and sea turtle conservation. CEL uses green technologies like rainwater harvesting, solar energy, and composting, and provides opportunities to interact with volunteers, development workers, and the local community As a volunteer you will be involved in following projects: Maintenance of Center: ·Support during trainings hosted at CEL ·Hospitality ·Arrange accommodations for Guests/Participants ·Campus Management and the Garden ·Take care of pet animals Sustainable Agriculture/Organic Farming: CEL is implementing a project on Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental education among the neighboring community. Your task will be: ·Work with the farming community and the associated organizations that assist in sustainable agriculture and organic farming in the community (October - December) ·Conduct awareness on the importance of sustainable agriculture and Environmental issues among the children and community in the neighborhood (October - December) Sea Turtle Conservation: Conducting surveys, gathering and analysis of data (January to April) ·Creating awareness amongst the local community, school children, harbors and fishing communities. Accomodation and food: Accommodation: You could be staying with local families near to the project. You could be sharing rooms with 2-3 volunteers or staying on your own. Sometimes, projects provide accommodation for the volunteers. The project will provide a room that is shared by other volunteers or with the staff of the project Food: South Indian vegetarian or non-vegetarian food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Safe, filtered water is available for drinking.

Location and Leisure: Our projects are spread out across different regions in South India. Your project location could be in any one of the following locations - Bangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Kundapur, Udupi, Mangalore, North Karnataka or Pondicherry. You will be notified of the location of your project a month prior to your arrival. During the Orientation week, one can find out the leisure activities around your area. There are lots of things to do in south of India.

Requirements: Fee: The Participation cost is 21,600 Indian Rupees for each month ViSA: According to the new Visa Regulations, volunteers coming to India to do voluntary service with/through a registered Indian organization need to apply for an “Employment Visa” ( to work with NGO / Non-Profit organization). No other visa is acceptable. In order to apply for an Employment visa, you’ll need proof of employment with an organization in India, such as a contract that states the terms and conditions. FSL India will provide necessary documents for your visa application on request. The program begins on the first Monday of every month, with the on-arrival orientation held in Kundapur. Participants must arrive in Kundapur by that day, where all volunteers will gather at a common meeting point for pick-up. Kundapur is well connected by train and bus; the easiest options are flying to Bangalore and taking an overnight bus, or flying to Mangalore and continuing by bus or prepaid taxi. Kundapur is about 440 km from Bangalore and 100 km north of Mangalore, near the Arabian Sea. The specific information regarding your arrival and meeting point will be sent to you in a pre-arrival letter
