VIN s Teaching English at Buddhist monastery/ nunnery project aims to give volunteers/interns a true taste of life at the monastery. It aims for an exchange between the religious members of a certain community and foreigners from a drastically different community that have just one thing in common: the eagerness to learn. You may learn about Buddhist culture, while the monks and nuns may learn the English language, an extremely important asset for them.

Work: Possible Daily activities-Creating lesson plans for your daily teaching.-Teach regular English classes.-Interacting with the children of the Buddhist monastery.-Help the other teachers advance their English. Teach basic sanitation/hygiene.

Accomodation and food: For this project the volunteer is accommodated in the monastery itself along with 3 simple meals is provide in the monastery.

Location: KATHMANDU

Location and Leisure: The Monasteries associated with VIN is located at the periphery of Kathmandu Valley.VIN also organizes weekend travel tours to Chitwan Jungle Safari, Pokhara, and Nagarkot at an additional cost if you are interested.

Airport: KTM

Train/Bus station: Tribhuvan International Airport

Requirements: We accept volunteers twice monthly, on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. You are required to arrive a day before your project start date. -Basic English should be spoken among the participants - Physically sound as per the project requirements.

A VIN staff member will pick up volunteers from the airport. Please send your flight details in advance so we can provide a name card with the VIN logo.
