Nepal s schools often lack proper libraries, with poorly managed resources and limited training for teachers and children on library use.Volunteers will organize library camps in local schools, focusing on:Library management: Organizing books, creating a user-friendly space.Skill development: Teaching children how to use the library effectively.Engaging activities: Conducting reading sessions, storytelling, and creative workshops.These camps aim to foster a love of reading, improve literacy skills, and create a more conducive learning environment for children.-Understand the importance of the Teej festival and know how it is celebrated. -Understanding of Nepali culture and participating in the celebration.

Work: -Clean and maintain the library. -Arrangement of resources in the library and record them in proper order.-Paint and decorate the library room.-Conduct the session with children and teachers to ensure the appropriate use of the library. -Organize different reading and writing activities with children using the library. -Conduct different activities to promote the library. -To celebrate Teej with women who have positive energy in the community.

Accomodation and food: The volunteers will stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living facilities are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area with separate rooms. The volunteers sleep on simple beds/mattresses. Please bring your sleeping bag.

Location: KATHMANDUNEPAL

Location and Leisure: Jitpurphedi is a community in Tarakeshwor Municipality, located 10-15 km from Kathmandu s main ring road, surrounded by hills, fields, and woods. You can go sightseeing at various sites around the community. VIN also organizes weekend travel tours to Chitwan Jungle Safari, Pokhara, and Nagarkot at an additional cost if you are interested.

Train/Bus station: Kathmandu

Requirements: -Basic English should be spoken among the participants -Physically sound as per the project requirements.

A VIN staff member will pick up volunteers from the airport. Please send your flight details in advance so we can provide a name card with the VIN logo. If you d like to explore earlier, you can take a pre-paid taxi or VIN can assist you. You can arrive at the VIN office on your first day.

The participation fee 270 Euros (30 Euro for transportation) is to be paid on your arrivals at VIN Office.
