Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) is an NGO with the mission to empower marginalised communities through inclusive and holistic development programmes. This is done through the following project areas: - Education - Health and Environment - Economy - Basic Infrastructure Within the above project areas, we conduct the following programmes: - Women s Empowerment - Children s Development - Youth Empowerment - Disaster Risk Reduction - Environment and Conservation - Public Health and Medical Care https://www.volunteersinitiativenepal.org/

Work: Providing access to healthcare and sanitation in order to keep the population thriving is key. At VIN we want to create awareness in local communities by teaching and educating rural communities as well as facilitating first hand medical care. Nepal faces many challenges when it comes to public health. In the rural communities the government offers very few facilities to support the health of its people. With illiteracy and poverty levels being high, manypeople do not have the means to changetheir health, sanitation, and hygiene practices and remain unaware of the major health risks and how to minimise them.Daily ActivitiesThe Medical Care Volunteer will spend one day in the Kavresthali Health Clinic taking blood pressure and monitor other vital functions. The other four days, the volunteer will be involved in the below activities based in the rural community depending on your experiences and background:- Planning and designing programmes on Health, Hygiene, and Sanitation- Campaigns at schools

Accomodation and food: Volunteers stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living conditions at the host family/ hostel are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area but have separate sleeping rooms. The volunteers sleep on simple beds/mattresses. Please bring your sleeping bag. The food will be provided in Nepali standard i.e. dal Bhat (rice, lentil soup, vegetables, pickle, eggs).
