Imagine a vast, natural, outdoor environment where memories are made to last a lifetime, adventures abound around every corner and you have the chance to deliver life changing experiences - welcome to life at Fairthorne Manor! Every year the YMCA welcomes thousands of visitors to the wonderful 94 acre site on the south coast of England. The site includes sweeping grounds, mature woodlands, a lake, access to the River Hamble and a range of exciting outdoor activities. Fairthorne is a place of firsts - from toddlers walking, kids splashing in the mud, being away from home, trying new activities or a school trip to remember. Enabling young people to grow and thrive is made possible with the help of international volunteers from around the world. Volunteer with the YMCA to help support happy, healthy lives for all.

Work: Your role: You will ensure all visitors to YMCA Fairthorne Manor have an experience which embodies all of the core values: Welcoming, Active, Listening, Inspiring, Caring, Exciting. During your stay at Fairthorne Manor, you will act as a host to the incoming groups, leading on activities and games, running evening entertainments, ensuring meal times are running smoothly, taking part in the campfires, playing games with the younger children, welcoming families to the events generally making a big difference to the YMCA community! Behind the scenes you will ensure the smooth running of our large operation, from helping to look after our beautiful woodland and grassland areas, maintain activities, assisting the estates team and much more! The YMCA want a volunteer who: - Wants to have fun - Wants to make friends from all over the world - Loves being outside - Enjoys inspiring young people - Wants to make a difference to a local community - Want to learn new skills and improve the amazing ones you already have! - Like the idea of your days being varied - Making every visit to Fairthorne special!

Accomodation and food: The YMCA will provide the following for all volunteers joining this project: - Full training and development opportunities - 3 meals a day - Free accommodation in dorm style rooms with full bedding - Full uniform and toiletries - The chance to work in a really varied community - Loads of fun outdoors! - Great social opportunities - Learning new transferable skills to help in many future careers - Mentoring from an experienced staff member - The opportunity to be part of the huge YMCA movement! - Free YMCA uniform to ensure you feel part of the team - Fun volunteer social events IMPORTANT: Please remember it’s not a 5* hotel. YMCA is more like a youth hostel with dormitory-style accommodation and basic facilities.

Location and Leisure: YMCA Fairthorne encourage all volunteers to take the chance to get out and Explore the UK. YMCA Fairthorne is situated just outside of Southampton and less than two hours from London. Situated in a 94 acre land in Botley, it truly is a stunning landscape where volunteers can enjoy the nature, but also not to far away from Southampton which is one of the biggest Cities on the South Coast where volunteers can do the following: - Shopping - Visit the Solent Sky Museum - The theatre - Southampton Football Club - Go to a game! - Visit the Tudor houses - Travel to Stonehenge

Airport: SOU

Train/Bus station: Botley, Hampshire (Train Station)

Volunteers can get a direct train from Southampton to Botley, or if flying in to a London airport you get the train to Southampton Central and then on to Botley. Once at Botley a staff member will take you to the final destination.

Extra Fee: 50 GBP

- Volunteers will be volunteering from Monday to Friday from 07:30am - 6:00pm with breaks throughout the day. Volunteers will have both Saturday and Sunday for their leisure time. - Volunteers must be over 18 at the time the programme starts due to accommodation rules. - Volunteers must be able to fund their own flights to the UK and get to Botley Train Station where the YMCA will collect and take to final destination. - Volunteers must provide Two References and a Police check to Concordia. - Volunteers need to be able to attend an online interview with the YMCA Fairthorne Manor. All volunteers will receive a small cash payment of £420 after the first month to spend on items they wish.
