KATREE VILLAGEꟾ DALAA-WC6509ꟾ 2023-09-01 – 2023-09-14ꟾ AGRI/EDU ꟾ  AGE: 18-99

Katree is a strong Muslim community from Satun province, Southern Thailand. With DaLaa, we use to work with the youthsfrom Katree seed club, welcome them in our work camp bothinThailand and abroad. This time will be the first time that wewill organize work camp in Katree village. During September is the season of rice planting, the volunteers will learn and work together with local people for rice plantingprocess. Aims of the project • To support and be part of Katree community (to preserve their community values and life style) • To build a good relationship between volunteers and local people• To learn about local cultures and wisdom.

Work:  To work on rice field, (Planting rice) • Organizing activities with kids on the weekend • Learning the local life of this village.

Accommodation and food: Volunteers will sleep at the village learning center. There will besimple mats, pillow and mosquito net. You will need to bringyoursleeping bag or light blanket. There are basic toilets, showers andakitchen. The villagers will help the volunteers to cook. Localpeople eat rice (or noodles) 3 times a day with side disheslikecurries, omelettes, local leaves and vegetables. Volunteers will bewelcome to cook their own food using the ingredients availablethere. (No oven, only a gas and woks or pans).

Location: Muang, SATUN

Requirements :The volunteers should be ready to stay in a remote area, toadapt tothe local conditions with only basic facilities.Very fewlocal peopleare able to speak in English. Volunteers should be able to handlespontaneous working environment and constant changes intheplans. The mentality and way of thinking is very different fromthewestern world.There will have often activities with the children. Tohave responsibility for you, the kids and full involvement incommunity matters is a must. For the 2 weeks, you will be leadedby a DaLaa member/staff who will help to coordinate the project. The villagers of Katree are Muslim so there must be no porknor alcohol products brought to the village.
