PARTNERS :ALA Associazione Liberi Artigiani – organization active since 2009, work to develop educational framework and workshops specializing in activities for youth and adults in the rural areas. The focus of its work is in Sabina, an agricultural area north of Rome ( 40km) where it has made local development and youth policies its main vocation. The methodology uses, and the educational approach mixes non formal methods, art, creativity, and outdoor practices. PROJECT: The association works to build an idea of an inclusive educational community where everyone has the opportunity to find the space to express himself, outside of any judgment, social or political. On a daily basis it deals with youth aggregation, active citizenship and participation, reception and receptivity, and local development for the purpose of sustainable tourism. Since 2021 responding to young people s need for meeting spaces, it has launched the ASPRAMENTE project, a youth library, as a gathering space. This still embryonic project needs energy and color, which an intercultural group can bring.

Work: WORK :The days will be structured by providing a part of manual work to keep improving the library as space of aggregation (decoupage, painting, carpentry, transport of furniture and books,...), and a part of socio-cultural animation (creation of laboratories, workshops, walks, street and group games, etc...). The group management and cooking and cleaning will be part of the group work. Moments of discussion and reflection, and others to explore the territory. Part of the animation activities will be finalized to create a positive interaction with the local community.

Accomodation and food: ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD : Accommodation will be very basic! Volunteers will be accommodated in the Casperia school gym and shared space and bathrooms. Volunteers will have access to all facilities present in the school: showers, toilets and kitchen. The management of space cleaning and meal preparation will be handled by the volunteers themselves through cleaning/cooking shifts. The group will have access to a pantry on the basis of which to construct a weekly menu respecting allergies/intolerances and diets particulars.

Location: Casperia

Location and Leisure: LOCATION AND LEISURE: Casperia(RI) Lazio, Central Italy. Approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Rome, the area called Sabina, where Casperia is located, is part of the Apennine chain. The landscape is made of hills covered with olives, which rise towards steeper mountains, with extensive oak and beech and small medieval villages, castles and monasteries. It is a landscape that has remained substantially unchanged over time and little affected by modern building development. Casperia is located on the slopes of "Pizzuto" mountain at 397 meters a.s.l. Casperia is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Rieti in the Italian region Latium, located about 50 kilometers (31 mi) northeast of Rome and about 20 kilometers (12 mi) southwest of Rieti. During their free time, volunteers could make some excursions, workshops and sports. NOTE: It is not possible to visit Rome - The free time activity will be organized by the leaders to allow participants to explore the village and the surroundings. TERMINAL : Rome Fiumicino FCO and then direct train to Poggio Mirteto or Rome CIA and then connection by bus to Rome Tuscolana and then train to Poggio Mirteto.
