This project will be carried out in cooperation with a non-profit organization which was founded decades ago in Colombia and works for the well-being and integral development of vulnerable and poor communities. Through a wide range of programs focused on empowerment and sustainability, the organization s projects strengthen the capacity of individuals, families and communities, promoting social inclusion and the common good. Currently, the organization is focused on bringing education and protection to more than 3,500 children, the development of skills and training for work and human development for an average of 1,000 men and women each year, and access to business development services and employment management to over 1,000 small business owners. Also, they assist in providing humanitarian assistance, reaching an average of 6,000 people each year in various parts of the country, through medical missions and other actions. The local partner has the volunteer certification of the European Union EU Aid Volunteers Initiative as a hosting organization since 2019.

Work: The volunteer will support the NGO bringing education to hundreds of kids. The participant will teach English in a school with the local teacher together. You can also propose, design materials based on the curriculum. 30-35 hours per week. All ages, elementary and high school. Emphasis in grades 10 and 11 (age 15-17)

Accomodation and food: • Accommodation at the home of a member of the local partner team, in a private room with a shared bathroom. • Three meals per day (usually lunch in the school) • The local project provides funds for transportation on local bus system.

The charm, warmth, and energy of the people of Barranquilla captivate the city s visitors. This city offers a wide range of recreational and cultural activities. For example, you can visit the city s historic center, declared a Place of Cultural Interest in 1999, where you ll find tourist locations such as the Paseo de Bolívar, one of the most noteworthy avenues in the city, where City Hall, the Church of San Nicolas, the Plaza de San Roque, and multiple commercial buildings are located.
