Chiang Mai was purposefully created by King Mangrai in AD.1296 to be the political, economic, social and cultural center of his newly expanded and integrated "Lanna Kingdom" (kingdom of a million rice fields). It represents a masterpiece of human creative genius in the field of urban planning and exhibits the essence of the traditional spiritual values of living in harmony with nature respecting the invisible power of the mountains, the valleys, and the rivers. As such, the city and its cultural landscape bear an exceptional testimony to the “Lanna” civilization, still living and known until today

Work: Implemented for the first time at four different sites in the country, the project aims at creating digital content about Thai World Heritage and at using online social media and platforms to stimulate interest and raise awareness of world heritage in terms of its values, of youth and community ownership, and of concrete actions to preserve it and become active agents for the safeguarding of its historic, cultural and social values. After visiting and learning first-hand about different aspects of World Heritage, the volunteers will re-interpreter the history and value of the site through the creation of visual storytelling through pictures and videos aimed at social media communication; they will also translate relevant information about the World Heritage site in their own languages to reach out to a wider public and will run clean-up actions around the heritage area together with local volunteers and students.

Accomodation and food: Hostel, shared room and restroom. Bunk bed, Internet is available at hostel. The volunteer will take turn cooking Thai ingredients with Thai coordinator, food will be provided in some meals.
