Green & Away provides an outdoor low impact venue to host many different events. Our purpose is to provide a space for environmental and social education through hosting sustainable events and volunteer education programmes.

Work: The taekdwon will involve various tasks to put the site together including taking down marquees, taking down up tents, moving equipment, deinstalling services. The events phase will involve interfacing with guests, cleaning facilities, making beds and serving drinks. roughout the summer there are also the basic tasks of running the camp being cooking food, cleaning facilities and supporting on admin tasks.

Accomodation and food: The accommodation will be sleeping on tents. Volunteers will receive a tent including their own sleeping compartment or own tent depending on availability. Sleeping will be on a mattress or bedroll with pillow and sleeping bag. Hot water showers - these are open to the elements but are separate cubicles. Soap and toiletries provided. Composting toilets. Running water and taps at regular places throughout the site. Washing machine for volunteer use. This is an outdoor campsite so most facilities are not completely covered. All meals are provided by G&A from the community kitchen. Volunteers are encouraged to join in on the communal cooking if they want but not to store or cook their own food from the kitchen (they can keep snacks in their tents or the crew area).

Location and Leisure: The site is situated close to a small village which has some things going on but we are 5-6 miles from Worcester with a direct bus. Therefore volunteers can travel quite freely to a big city and beyond very easily. More immediately the site is located close to a café, with walking trails and a river for swimming bordering the site. There is a first aid kit on site and a defibrillator at the nearby café, the nearest hospital is 9 miles away. Volunteers can partake in the evets, education and workshops if the leisure time fits.

Train/Bus station: Nearest train station: Worcester - there is also a regular bus route to the village from the city centre.

Requirements: Volunteers have to be over the age of 18. Volunteers must enjoy being outside, be motivated to work hard to create a beautiful and functional site, have an interest in community life, and a desire to learn about living in an environmentally sustainable way. A certificate of good conduct and a motivation letter is required. Volunteers must also speak a good level of English, all applicants will receive a phone call to check English level due to the need to understand Health and Safety instructions. The site is accessible however volunteers need to have a good level of physical fitness and be confident walking on uneven ground outside. If a VISA sponsorship is required then an additional £21 needs to be paid.

For Green and Away it is really important the volunteer understands what we are about (environmental charity, not a music festival! etc.) and the circumstances of the facilities (outdoor showers, camping). Green & Away need volunteers to have a good level of English so that instructions can be followed (especially during setup and takedown) which is integral to the safety of themselves and everyone they are working with. A pre approval interview over the phone will be organised with the host after applications.
