Marvejols has a rich medieval heritage and an exceptional living environment. The town is looking towards its youth and the world and wishes to organise this second international youth work camp (15-17 years old). Meetings with local young people, inhabitants and local associations, notably during the town s festivals, will spice up your stay. We will open the doors of the town to help you discover the history, culture and environment of this heritage jewel, locally known as "La Belle du Gevaudan"!

Work: Do you want to make yourself useful while discovering an exceptional site, rich in history and legends in the heart of nature? This project is for you! We propose to work on the embellishment of a shopping street in the heart of the old medieval town of Marvejols. You will be required to repaint the street furniture in a pedestrian street. This is a very useful job for the inhabitants and shopkeepers of this beautiful town where life is good and where tourists and visitors like to stroll in the summer. Local festivals are organised on site during your stay where you can meet the locals. You can also take part in the activities planned with the leisure centre.

Accomodation and food: You will stay at the the municipal field. You will sleep in individual tents (bring your own sleeping bag and sleeping mat) and live together in a municipal room provided for the group equipped with toilets and showers. French volunteers will be able to share their internet connection through a hotspot or use the WIFI available. Laundry will be done by hand. You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders and you will participate in the shopping and the preparation of the meals, promoting healthy and local products.

Location and Leisure: Marvejols is a small town of 5000 inhabitants located in the Lozere department. You will be totally seduced by the magnificent landscapes that the site and the small medieval streets of the city offer. You will be able to take advantage of the leisure and outdoor activities. You can also take part in the local events organised at this time of year.

Train/Bus station: MARVEJOLS train station

Requirements: Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

The meeting point is set MARVEJOLS train station at 4:30 PM on the 12th of July. To get to MARVEJOLS from PARIS, you will a have to take the train from PARIS Bercy train station at 9am and then switch in CLERMONT-FERRAND train station. The trip lasts for about 7 hours. (another later connection is possible for international volunteers). If possible, please consider using low-carbon transportation (train and bus rather than airplane) for a sustainable international workcamp. If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel. Please bring gardening gloves, working shoes and working clothes. As the nights can be quite chilly, remember also to bring warm clothes and a warm sleeping bag. During the day the temperatures can rise up, so bring some sunglasses, sunscreen and a bottle of water !
