DESIGN FURNITURES FOR COMMUNITY CENTER | CONCF-6301B | 2023-07-15 - 2023-07-29 | CONS,MANU | Age: 15 - 17

Since 1993, Concordia has been organizing international workcamps with the city of Clermont-Ferrand, which shows how well this partnership works! The city has elaborated participative projects in cooperation with the local population. Every year, we come back to active neighbourhoods, where there is a social center, where inhabitants created familial gardens and non-profit organizations developed their activities. This workcamp offers you the opportunity to participate in the life of Les Vergnes town, where several Concordia workcamps have already been hosted to build wooden street furniture. This neighbourhood is undergoing a major urban transformation. Your workcamp site will be set up on the Place des Droits de l Homme (Human Rights Square). Other associations and activities will be present at the same time, so you will be at the heart of a great neighbourhood event that will attract many residents! You are expected by the animation team of the neighbourhood, which will provide a room for your bag, and meals. Local young individuals will be able to take part in the workcamp and help you discover the area.

Work: This workcamp offers the opportunity to get involved with the inhabitants of the city of Clermont-Ferrand, in order to build wooden furniture. Become a handyman apprentice! The animation team of the northern town offers to build small atypical pieces of furniture, which do not exist anywhere else because they will be custom made. Together with the other international volunteers, your objective will be to build large wooden display panels on wheels to advertise the events of the social center to the inhabitants. These panels will have the particularity of being able to be transformed into a table! You will also make wooden storage benches on wheels. Alongside a technical leader, you will learn to use hand and power tools and also how to do DIY. The tasks will be diverse and your objective will be to make furniture, both visually pleasing and sturdy.

Accomodation and food: You will be accompanied by two camp leaders throughout your stay. You will stay at the two-star campsite “Les Sablons” in Pont-du-Chateau (with a swimming pool and activities), in one-person tent and a marquee for socializing. You will have access to showers and toilets in the camping ground. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of meals, prioritizing products from the market and local producers. You will have acces to Free WIFI at the campsite, and you will be able to wash your clothes by hand or in the washing-machine at the campsite (paying service).

During your stay, you will be able to enjoy both the town s dynamic energy and the countryside which is located right on its doorstep (hiking the volcanoes, swimming in the lakes, etc.). It will be a rich and varied experience.
