PROJECT: Camphill Tigh A’Cgomainn (CTA) are a Scottish charity and Camphill Community with over 30 years of experience providing specialist independent care to adults with complex needs including learning difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions and disabilities. Their expertise is firmly rooted in the values and ethos of the worldwide Camphill movement.

CTA provides residential and day care activities for those with learning disabilities and special needs.  Ideally located in Aberdeen, CTA is home for its residents. Day care students join Monday – Friday.

 

WORK: Support adults with a learning disability to lead active and fulfilling lives where they can contribute and feel valued.

 

TRAINING: Volunteers will receive a comprehensive training and induction programme. There will be an ongoing weekly foundation/core skill course covering all mandatory training (health and safety, moving and handling, food/hygiene, cook safe). There will also be in house training (understanding/awareness of learning disabilities, community ethos and fire safety).

 

ACCOMMODATION & FOOD:

Each volunteer has their own room with shared facilities in the house with the residents. This includes kitchen access, laundry etc. The volunteers will be sharing accommodation with other volunteers and residents. Self-catered programme - volunteers will be preparing their own food and will have use of a kitchen with all appliances available.

 

 

 

HOLIDAY: 4 weeks during each twelve month placement.

 

POCKET MONEY: Each volunteer will receive an allowance of £200/month from the host organisation to cover personal expenses and food costs. This will be paid at the end of each completed month.

 

LOCATION: Peterculter, Aberdeen, Scotland

 

Nearest airport: Aberdeen.

Nearest train stations: Aberdeen train Station.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers should be have good conversational English skills, in order to communicate with the residents.

ACCESSIBILITY: Volunteers need to have a reasonable level of physical fitness.

 

EXTRA FEE: £50 (GBP) - a small contribution to Concordia’s administration fees.

 

UK VISA COSTS:

Volunteers will need to apply for a tier 5 charity workers VISA, which costs approximately £244, and additionally £21 for a sponsorship certificate. On top of the VISA fee they will also need to pay an immigration health surcharge (approximately £654). These fees are paid to the UKVI on application.

 

The host has agreed to help cover the expenses for the Health Surcharge (one of the fees needed for the VISA application) for volunteers completing their 12 month placement.
