Rural/Urban- Digital Divide

EDU 12.09.22 – 24.09.22

Background: We strongly believe that every child has a right to education and with this initiative we want to strengthen basic learning skills for children of age 4 to 18 years from rural institutes by introducing them and teachers to the non-formal education methodology which uses tools like creative art, drawing, painting, games, paper art (origami), charts, music, singing, dancing, audio/video aid and other innovative activity based methods to enhance the understanding of kids towards the topic by encouraging creative thinking rather than just text book learning.

The recent pandemic introduced us all to digital classes along with work from home culture which brought into lime light the importance of digital education and the lack of it at institutional level. It was highly difficult and emotionally challenging for the countryside families to adapt to this new requirement due to economic compulsions, lower literacy level, lack of IT skills and no smart devices. However, it is good that people are prepared to acquire these skills.

present we work with 7 educational institutes (private and public) along with a day care learning centre at nearby slum which has more than 70 kids visiting it daily.

Location & Leisure Time: Ruchi campus which is located near Bandh village. It is 30 km from Kalka town and 60 km from Chandigarh city. The area offers a unique opportunity to live with nature in a peaceful environment.

Self organized city tours and excursions. Old Sikh and Hindu temples in the near vicinity can be visited. Nearby Kasauli town is another hill station as a tourist attraction. A visit to Shimla will offer an opportunity to see high Himalayan Mountains.
