PROJECT SITE

Intercultural and Language (ICL) – Nakhon Ratchasima, learning and sharing the intercultural and
language still are the main purpose. Volunteers will share and exchange culture, language, and
knowledge with the local community and students in the school.

English as the global language and intercultural learning are important for local Thai people to
understand and being for global citizens. English is also the gateway to open mind and knowledge.
After the project was created by VSA Thailand and has been successful for eight years. Former
volunteers came to give the opportunity for children in schools and local community. Many local
people improved their English skills through exchanging with international volunteers, or at least they
try to speak the English language more and dare to face and work with the foreigner even though they
cannot speak English. Moreover, volunteers’ activities impacted local community. They used to stay
lively and trustily with the foreigner. Local people have a chance to learn, accept, and adopt the ways
of life with the different cultures.

Ban Krogluek School is primary school, there are about 10 teachers and 100 students from
kindergarten (2-6 years old), pratomkuksa 1-6 (7-12 years old). VSA sent volunteers to Ban Krogluek
School since 2015.

This project require volunteers apply at least for 2 months.

Impactfrom previous volunteers

Volunteer will be divided to work in rural school as English teachers,
preparing lessons with the teacher at the school (do not expect this
point too much even the teachers are also shy to speak out).

Creative teaching English –Non-formal education tools can be used
for creative teaching; volunteer is not required teaching certificate but
requiring to be creative. Aims of creative teaching is giving the chance
for students in the school and local community to have an opportunity
to communicate with different language and learn difference culture.

Volunteer would use Non-formal education tools to make an activities
base on intercultural and language such as the games, songs,
storytelling, and dancing. Also, it should focus on communication;
listening and speaking.

School Renovation - Volunteer will do the school renovation such as
painting the wall or play ground, etc.
Work

The project has been start since 2015.
Creative teaching English is the long term impact, previous volunteers
have done the teaching which improve communication of students.
The improvement of English abilities of studens has been measure
by awards of regional English test. Students are more confidence to
communicate with interantional volunteers.

Previous volunteers had done the walk way game painting for
students, wall painting and playground repainted.

Accommodation & Food

Volunteer will stay with a local host family 1.3 Km distance to school workplace (16 minutes walk) .
Private room with share bathroom. Wifi is available at host family house and school.

Food will be provide or you can cook at the host family for breakfast and supper. There will be lunch at the
workplace (school) volunteer will have lunch with teacher or students.

Volunteer is welcome to help or learn cooking with host family or at workplace as well as to bring some
ingredients from your country for food culture exchange.

Age over 21 years
Ability to communicate in English
No criminal record proved (Certificate of Good
conduct)
Be creative in the class tools
Like to be with kids

the differrent cultures.
