Description: “Don Bosco Télé Services” is a youth center located in a popular district in Brussels, which organizes different types of activities throughout the year (creative workshops, school support, sport…) for children and youngsters coming from this district, mostly from immigrant origins.

Type of Work: The typical working days last from 10am to 6pm. At the beginning of the day, volunteers will prepare activities for children aged from 6 to 12, and then they will lead those activities. They might consist in art and craft, cooking, sports, a day trip to the countryside or seaside, games. The days can be very demanding and tiring. It is very important to start the day and be there (if there is no accomodation) at 10 am every day and to be punctual for the smooth running of the project. It is also very important to respect the living rules of the center in order to be a good example for the children (respecting schedules, limitd use of cellphones). If there is no accomodation , a supper with the staff and the volunteers will be organised every week to strenghten the links in the group.

Study Theme: Immigration and integration issues in Belgium

Accommodation: Depending on the Covid sanitary measures, the volunteers will either be sleeping in a big room of the Don Bosco Center (sleeping bag needed) with access to toilet, shower and kitchen or there will be no accomodation and they will go back to their homes every day for the night.
