PNR VERCORS 2 – The Green Tower | CONCF-282 | 2020-08-28 - 2020-09-11 | RENO,ENVI | Age: 18 - 99

For more than 15 years, Concordia has been working in partnership with the Vercors Regional Natural Park. This year, the Park celebrates its 50th anniversary while Concordia celebrates its 70th anniversary. Come join us for this double celebration and participate in a project that will have an impact on the territory. You will be supervised by Concordia’s campleaders and supported by the Park s eco-guards who are involved in the management of natural areas in the Vercors.

Work: *** VERSION EN FRANCAIS DISPONIBLE EN FIN DE DESCRIPTION *** *** French version at the end of the description *** Come and discover an old medieval tower in the heart of a wooded area, participate in its renovation and allow the inhabitants to (re)discover their hidden heritage... Accessible by a hiking trail, the stone tower is now in a state of ruin. The workcamp is intended to highlight what remains of the ruins and to open up the site to allow walkers to immerse themselves in local history. You will carry out masonry work with respect for the buildings to consolidate the ruin and protect the site. You will also clean the surrounding wooded areas in order to enhance the heritage. You will be accompanied by a technical leader from Concordia who knows the Vercors perfectly as well as by the ecoguards of the PNR.

Accomodation and food: During this workcamp, you will be accommodated in a tent near a communal hall which will be at your disposal. This common space will allow you to prepare meals, eat together, relax and have a shelter in case of bad weather. You will also have access to the sanitary facilities and showers. You will participate in the preparation of the meals, in turn, from the products that will be bought nearby. We will favour local products as well as short production circuits. Tastings of local products are also possible with local producers.

Location: LA RIVIERE

Location and Leisure: The commune of La Riviere is a small village of about 800 inhabitants. It is located about 30 km from Grenoble, the largest city in the department of Isere. Its territory is mountainous with a beautiful density of wooded areas. From the crests, you will discover sumptuous panoramas overlooking the Vercors massif. Numerous wetlands cross the commune which takes its name from this situation. Many hikes are accessible in the area and the ecoguards will be able to advise you to discover the most beautiful natural sites. You can also discover the gastronomy (raviole, bleu du Vercors...) as well as the local specialty: walnuts.

Train/Bus station: La Riviere bus station, accessible by a departmental bus line from Grenoble bus station (line 5000 in direction of Pont-en-Royans).

Remember to bring gloves and clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Don t forget your sleeping bag. In your bag, also take suitable clothing in case of rain or for your hikes (sweaters, fleeces, raincoats ...). Hiking boots will be useful to discover the region. Also think about sun protections (hat, glasses, cream...) and a swimsuit. Convivial times will be programmed in connection with our campleaders and according to your desires. If you wish to share a bit of your culture (recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects, music...), don t hesitate to take a little piece of your country in your backpack. Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate.
