Work: Work camp is part of Jaunatne smaidam / Youth for Smile new initiative growing up from project we started in 2010 - Outdoor education centre. We are inviting international volunteers to work on environmental sustainability. By developing sustainable farm – training centre, our organisation is looking to create a platform trough what could be spread information and knowledge about sustainability. Within the camp we will implement a holistic approach in everyday life. According the weather and real need volunteers will have tasks in different fields – agriculture, farming, restoration of natural areas, traditional building etc. Volunteers will have possibilities: 1. Work on a creation of permaculture garden, take care of existing garden and greenhouse. 2. Take care of animals in a farm (sheeps, goats, rabbits etc.), build pasture paddocks, prepare food for winter. 3. Restore natural meadows by removing them from bushes and purify the river from overgrowth. 4. Building a heating system – rocket mass heater in main house. As well do different maintenance works in farm.

Accomodation and food: Living conditions are very basic. Volunteers will be accommodated in the building of the farm – in the attic under the roof. Sleeping will be on the mattresses or beds. There will be only one common room for sleeping. Sometimes it could be necessary to stay in tents if the work requires. Toilets and washing facilities will be provided. Cooking will be done by volunteers themselves in the kitchen or on a campfire. Volunteers should bring their sleeping bags. Do not forget some traditional or typical food from your home country for the international evening.
