Project:
You will participate in an international volunteer yard organized by the association Concordia on
the commune of Pamiers, in the Ariege. In August 2019, the municipality of Pamiers wishes to
proceed with the restoration of a retaining wall that collapsed following heavy rains.

Work:
You will be required to sort the fallen stones, and to clean the area. You will then participate in
restoring the wall responsibly using noble and natural materials. Supervised by a technical camp
leader, you will learn traditional masonry techniques. A first project will take place in July, to start
up the retaining wall, and your goal will be to continue and finish it. You may have to use
scaffolding at times.

Accommodation and food:
You will sleep in a tent, with access to toilets, shower facilities and kitchen. Alternatively you will
take part in the preparation of meals and the management of the place of life (organization of
schedules, households, shopping, etc.). We will promote as much as possible the purchase of
local and seasonal products.

Location and leisure:
Pamiers is a charming city of Ariege. Located on the outskirts of the regional nature park of the
Ariegeois Pyrenees, located an hour drive from Toulouse, you will have the opportunity to
discover a welcoming population. You will find there two great historical buildings that are the
Cathedral of Saint-Antonin de Pamiers, as well as the church Notre-Dame-du-camp. These two
authentic buildings will delight lovers of history and architecture.

Special requirements and remarks:
Consider taking clothes and footwear for work (including rain). Bring a warm sleeping bag and a
sleeping-mat, the nights are sometimes cool and humid. If you want, you can bring your own
tent. And remember to take a bathing suit in case of a possible swim. Don’t hesitate to bring
home specialties, photos, games, musical instruments, etc.
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European
Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If
health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be
reimbursed once back in their home country.
