Location and infrastructure:The workcamp is situated in Uzda, Minsk region, Belarus (65 km from Minsk). The town is known since the 15th century and has several tourist attractions. The infrastructure is well-developed, so you will find everything necessary here: banks and currency exchange offices, shops, bars and cafes, pharmacy, local market, post-office etc. 

 

Work&Leisure time: The camp for Belarusian high school pupils aged 12–18 and pupils of the same age from abroad (neighboring countries - Ukraine, Russia) takes place every year in the ancient town of Uzda. Foreign volunteers work independently (with the help of Belarusian teachers and volunteers) to plan, prepare and perform non-formal interactive language classes for children in order to improve their conversational skills. You will work max 5 hours per day in the morning and before the lunch. But in the afternoon and in the evening you are welcome to enjoy the activities held by the Belarusian volunteers (debates, movies, sports, table games, outdoor games, music, dancing, crafts, fine arts, etc). During your leisure time you are welcome to participate in all outdoor or indoor activities with kids. You will be able to go to the capital Minsk and enjoy its wide range of free-time opportunities. Please be aware that the place is a bit far away from the city and it will not be possible to go to the city every day (For individual trips you have to pay yourself). 

 

Accommodation&Food:The participants will live in the dormitory of the local restoration school (3-4 people in one room). 3 meals a day, participants will be on duty to help the local kitchen lady with cooking.

 

What to bring: Materials that will help you to teach English, interesting games or whatever for leisure, musical instruments (optional), towels, toiletries, warm clothes (in the evening the temperature can be about +15). You do not have to bring a sleeping bag, a roll mat or bed sheets.

 

Requirements:The volunteers are expected to speak English well (at least B1 level is required) and have a desire to work with teenagers. We welcome those who is willing to learn and share cultural experience, active, creative, tolerant, easy-going and positive! Motivation letter is required.
