Chouvigny is committed to sustainable development. The staff of the municipality recovered 2 old public telephone booths, with the aim to convert them into book lending cabins and install them in the village. The idea is simple: you just have to exchange books, take one or more for free and leave the same number of books in the cabin, so that other inhabitants can take advantage of it too. This service wants to encourage people to read more. It will be the first time the village of Chouvigny hosts an international work camp. The inhabitants are looking forward to meeting you!

Work: You will transform two old telephone booths into book cabins: painting them from the outside, deciding how to organize them inside, installing shelves, making painting and decorations. You can also think about the modification of the exterior parts of the cabins. Along with a technical leader, you will learn basic carpentry skills and how to handle tools.

Accomodation and food: You will be accommodated in a municipal guest-house in the center of the village, which will be reserved only for you. There will be separate rooms for girls and boys and an area for community life, including kitchen and a lounge corner. A yard will be at your disposal, so you may have meals outdoors. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of dishes using good products from the market and local producers.

Location and Leisure: The village of Chouvigny is located in Auvergne, 60 km away from Clermont-Ferrand and 10 km from Ebreuil, where you can find shops. It is perfectly situated in the Gorge of Sioule, on the shore of a natural and wild-flowing river, where you might see beavers and swim! During your stay, you will enjoy the towns summery energy and the countryside nearby (hiking, visit of castles, see shows, etc.). Train/Bus station: Closest airport: Clermont-Ferrand, Lyon or Paris.

Requirements: Please take sporty/hiking shoes, working clothes and a swimsuit. Remember also to bring warm clothes and a sleeping bag. You can bring recipes from your home country, musical instruments and games. You will get around Chouvignyon on foot, by car and by minibus. Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
