ALLI16 WHV in Finland Helsinki 04.08.-17.08. CULT/RENO 13 vols 18-30

P: The UNESCO World Heritage Site in Suomenlinna is restored, maintained and governed by
the Governing Body of Suomenlinna that operates under the Ministry of Education and Culture. The City of Rauma is the other organising party in this project. Both of the organisers are responsible for preserving their associated historical and architectural values for future generations, too.
W: The volunteers will do landscaping tasks in these two World Heritage Sites in Finland. Suomenlinna is one of the most visited destinations in Finland whereas Old Rauma represents a more tranquil but equally interesting World Heritage site. The volunteers will assist in others tasks such as visitor management and have a chance to get to know more about preservation and promotion of a world heritage site. We aim in generating new ideas and actions with participants involved in preserving our common cultural heritage and aware how is it taken care of.
A: The volunteers will stay in a hostel in Helsinki and on mattresses in a historical building in Rauma , lunches will be provided, dinners prepared by volunteers.
L: Suomenlinna (More information: http://www.suomenlinna.fi/en/) in Helsinki, Rauma in western Finland. The volunteers will arrive in Helsinki and spend most of the time in Suomenlinna. About 3-4 days will be spent in Rauma where the group will travel together and the host will organise the travel. the last days will again be spent in Suomenlinna.
R: The volunteers need to have interest towards World Heritage and prepare themselves before the camp in order to tell about the World Heritage projects in their home countries. The applicants need to write a

one page motivation letter explaining why they would like to join the project, if they have any previous experience in WHvolunteering and what could be their contribution to the project.
T: Helsinki. There is a 15 minutes ferry ride from the centre of Helsinki.
SR: One page motivation letter together with the application is needed. The volunteers need travel insurance for the duration of their stay. Registration fee 50 euros
