Area:
The "KiEZ Am Filzteich" is situated at the shore of the Lake “Am Filzteich” in the mountains of the
picturesque Erzgebirge (www.erzgebirge.de) in the south of Germany. The nearest town is
Schneeberg. The "KiEZ" is a recreation centre for children and teenagers. Here you can find more
information and pictures of the centre: www.kiezschneeberg.de.
You will live and work in a place with many children’s groups. If you smoke, please ask the host or
leader where you are allowed to smoke. Please refrain from smoking in front of children. Please check
with the host regarding alcohol consumption and if you choose to drink please be responsible and
only do so during free-time. Please bring along a Certificate of Good Conduct.

Work:
International volunteers are invited to improve the grounds of the centre. Tasks are likely to include
construction, gardening, maintenance and renovation works. It is planned to maintain the playground
equipment, especially big climbing frames, which includes removing rust and painting it twice. Other
environmental and construction works are possible. Please be aware that you will not work with
children!
Accommodation:
You will live in a house, in multi-bed rooms. Bed linen will be provided. The sanitary track with
showers, WC and a living room will be on the same floor as your room.

Food:
All meals will be provided in the centre. The catering is well organised, with set meal times for the
different groups of children accommodated at the same time. Furthermore, you should know that the
centre provides food which is usually intended for children.

Leisure Time:
You can use the equipment of the KiEZ, like sports equipment.

Please bring with you:
- Water-proof working clothes (long trousers) and strong shoes
- Mosquito repellent
- Swimsuit
- Information about your home country; Speciality from your country
- Wet weather gear
- Towels and toiletries
- Your International Student’s Card (ISIC)
During the project, you are insured against illnesses (except chronic ones), accidents and liability.
Travel Directions:
Please try to fly to Leipzig/Halle. Berlin is also possible. It is not complicated to reach the KiEZ, but
it takes its time.
