Description: Did you know that one of the biggest and oldest Jewish cemeteries is located in heart of Warsaw? We are an energetic group of young people aiming to preserve a unique cultural heritage of that necropolis. Would you like to join us in our mission? Since four years the Cultural Heritage Foundation in Warsaw aims to maintain the tombs and old monuments in proper shape by the hands of volunteers. Every week dozen or more people are gathering to take care of the necropolis. The Foundation is also organizing summer camps for Polish youth and now we are inviting all of you, our international friends, to join our mission!

Type of Work: Volunteers will be given necessary gardening tools, you don’t need to have them with you! Work will mostly consist on removing weeds and broken branches. We will start to work around 10 and finish it after 6 hours. Shabbat starts on Friday afternoon, so on Friday we will finish earlier (at 1 p.m.) and Saturday will be a day off for exploring the city.

Study Theme: By taking part in our project you will gain wide knowledge about Jewish traditions, culture and their history in Warsaw. Series of workshops lead by experts will provide a broader perspective on Polish cultural heritage and will bring better understanding of how important it is to keep history in our minds.
