Description: Granara is a 600 mt altitude rural village in Appenini mountains. Granara is an experiment of sustainable development of an open community. Alekoslab aps is the hosting organisation of the project.Their activities include appropriate technologies, bio-architecture, environmental education, theatre, art, social awareness, decision-making within a group, nonviolence and cooperation.The project aims at creating and experimenting a sustainable and inclusive community, where the differences of each of its participants will be challenged. People differently abled and the referents of the hosting association will participate to the workcamp together with the international volunteers. Among them there are experts and educators who will facilitate relations and comunication in the group.

Type of Work: The work activities during the project are: green maintenance, building fences and branches, renovation of the wooden structures, small works and creative experimentations with clay, taking care of the library and the books, cooking for the group of partecipants, renovation of bycicles and trial tests, making wooden toys, coaching and support to people with disabilities. Workgroup activities last 6 hours per day. We foster the participation of the volunteers in the organisation and monitoring of the daily activities, for instance moments of game-playing and debating. Saturday evening and Sunday are the free days for volunteers. The party at Saturday night will be organize as well as outdoor activites on Sunday.

Study Theme: During the study part we will move the issues of ecology, group relations, disability and inclusion. In the morning before work and in the evening there will be a time for a group games to let people know each other and to build good group dynamic among them. During the work there will be persons who are in charge of giving informations about the village and the technologies. The moments of evaluation are forseen.

Accommodation: Participants will stay in Granaio house in shared rooms: two smaller for four volunteers and one bigger for nine volunteers which will be gender mixed. Showers, toilet and kitchen are inside the Granaio house. Participants are in charge of cooking and cleaning the common space. Towels and bed sheets are provided. Please take your sleeping bag. There is free internet wifi.

Requirements: Good disposition to work in a group. Attitude to live close to nature in a sustinable wayand to learn new skills, meet new people, participate in decisions together and being authonomous. Bike fixing skills are a plus.

Approximate Location: Grarana Ecological Village, Parma province, Emilia Romagna region.

Notes: Free time: walking in woods and to the river, relax and sunbathing on the edge of Granara biolake. Sunday is free and dedicated to relax, cooking, walking, playing games, playing sports, walking in the woods, or down to the river Taro to swim. The village is isolated and far from cities. Weekly the person in charge of the shopping will reach the nearby town (Borotaro). Food is mainly vegetarian.
