"Green environment" ecological work-camp in the hugest park in Ganja city

Location: Ganja is the second largest city in the country, a monument of the
ancient culture, the industrial center of western Azerbaijan. City with a history that goes back to 494 BC (in 2013 Ganja celebrates 2507 anniversary) is of great interest for tourists. This area has a rich natural, cultural and historical heritage. There are a lot of forests, vineyards, lakes, rivers and mountains. The area is famous for many mineral springs and unique medicinal oil – Naphthalan.

Limitation of Volunteers: Number of participants in the work camp to 10 persons from

different countries. Age limit is 18 - 99.

Project /Activities: (4-5 hours per day): During the project volunteers will be working one of biggest park in the city. The park location is surrounded with trees and shrubs. Volunteers tasks
will be: cleaning the surrounds / planting and whitewashing the trees /
making nests for bird and squirrel / making environmental warning signs to
put nearby the roads and etc.

During the camp, there will be organized several visits to local
environmental organizations and to one of beautiful recreation Center in the
country called - GoyGol (Green Lake) which is located near Ganja city. Local
young people / volunteers will be involved in the working process as well.

Accommodation: Volunteers will stay in double rooms at Ganja Youth House. Sheets
and beds will be provided.

NOTE: Even though for accommodation it is not needed, but still is obligatory to bring sleeping bags for 2 nights camping in the GoyGol "Green Lake".

Food: The breakfast, lunch and dinner will be made by volunteers. There’re
excellent conditions in the Youth House (in the kitchen) for cooking.

Food will provide by organisers.

Camp’s Language: English

Leasure time: Volunteers can take a walk in the park. There are open-air concert hall,
entertainment centers, artifical lake, biking and jogging roads and etc.
In the youth centre there are ongoing youth-related activities
(chess/sports/photography clubs, small events, barbecue parties and
etc.) which volunteers can easily join. Volunteers will have a chance to
visit important historical and sightseeing places in Ganja.

Attention: BF doesn’t insure volunteers, they should insure themselves before

leaving their countries.

What should
Volunteers bring? Sun-glasses, lantern and clothes, caps against sun-stroke, personal
pocket money, musical instrument, photo and film camera, project
examples reflecting your scope of interest, pills anti-allergy and
insurance document. Since the work camps taking place in June we are
expecting sunny weather, +24 or +26 degrees. But during evenings we
will meet with fresh and cold weather, so bring also some warm
clothes.

Currency: Azerbaijani currency is Azerbaijani Manat.

Attention : BF doesn’t insure volunteers. Volunteers should insure themselves before leaving their countries.

Visa to Azerbaijan: There is a very easy Visa regulation to Azerbaijan operating. Visa
applications are received online. Tourist Visa (costs 20 USD) is issued
during 3 working days and based on this foreigners can stay in the
country for 30 days.

How to get to Azerbaijan/Ganja : There is flight connections - on 5th (arrival) and 16th (departure) days of the camp from Istanbul to Ganja city by Turkish.

Airlines. From Ganja Airport to the city center it is about 5 minutes by
car. There is no any shuttle buses that’s why it is recommended to take
a taxi which will cost 3-4 euro. Here are direct flights from the various
European and Asian countries to Baku International Airport. Our
events will take place in Ganja, so you final destination in Azerbaijan is Ganja. As well as you will arrive to airport, there is detailed plan for you how to get from airport to Ganja by yourself.

A) If you want to take bus

- Take the bus from the Airport to the city of Baku (every half an
hour)
- Buses from airport arrive to metro station “Metro - 28 Yanvar”
(don’t forget that metro is working from 06:00 till 24:00). Take
metro to the “Metro - Avtovaghzal” station where International
Baku Bus Station is located.
- From bus station there is a bus going to Ganja every one hour. Last
bus is at 19:00. Price 7-8 AZN
B) If you want to take train
- Take the bus from the Airport to the city of Baku (every half an
hour). Buses from airport arrive to metro station “Metro - 28 May”
- Baku Central Railway Station is 5 minutes walking from “Metro -
28 May” station.
- From railway station you can take Ganja morning train, Tbilisi,
Agstafa, Kazakh and Ganja night train to get to Ganja. Train
tickest costs about 9-25 AZN.
