Create Space for Interaction – Experience Diversity – Rursee – Holiday village Woffelsbach | ijgd 28327 | 2018-09-01 - 2018-09-22 | SOCI | Age: 18 - 26

Work: Together with staff of the Hephata foundation, who is active for people with handicaps, you will run a three week long holiday program, Mondays to Fridays. You will work as assistants during for the program events. This holiday program is mainly aimed at people with handicaps, who are very independent and require only a reduced level of nursing and can participate in the program. They will be accompanied by certified caregivers. The different activities and events are planned at the start of each holiday week and depend upon the preferences of the people with handicap. Cooking and preparing the meals together and singing at the fireplace are integral parts of each week. You will be in close contact with the people with handicap, because you will live on site alongside with you and you will spend a lot of time together. This means, you should be open to interaction. Note: As there is a planned activity every day, your shift can last up to eight hours plus communal lunch break. In exchange there is a free day for you each week, which means, you will only have to work four days a week. There is only limited opportunity for privacy.

Accomodation and food: You will stay in modern log cabins with your group, in direct proximity to the Rur Lake in a beautiful but remote location. You will cook together.

Location and Leisure: The log cabin village is in a beautiful, but remote location, in close proximity to the Rur Lake. Public transport is very limited, but there are plenty of leisure facilities on site, such as an open-air swimming pool, sunbathing area and a speed soccer field. You can borrow canoes, kayaks or paddling boats. There will be trips for the whole group. If you feel like visiting a big city, you can make trips to Düsseldorf, Aachen, Cologne or Liege in Belgium. These trips have to be organised well, but the Hephata staff is happy to help you and organise mobility options.

Requirements: You absolutely have to be open-minded towards people with handicaps and should not be afraid of contact. It also helps if you are sociable and like making music.
