Nature Conservation around the Reservoir – Neunkirchen-Seelscheid | ijgd 28328 | 2018-08-31 - 2018-09-22 | ENVI | Age: 16 - 26

 

 

Work: Together with staff of the Wahnbach reservoir association, you will carry out a number of nature conservation works around the reservoir. Touch-me-not plants have to be removed from the inflows, as they would replace native plants. You will also help to carry out maintenance works in the meadows, to encourage the development of specific plants and built nesting boxes and barriers. If there is time left, you will get to check the signs of the hiking trails and renew them, where necessary. In this camp, you can learn a lot about the topics drinking water supply and water protection.

Accomodation and food: You will stay in the idyllic, but remote scout camp house in shared rooms. You will cook together.

Location: Neunkirchen-Seelscheid

Location and Leisure: The camp is located in a very beautiful region in Germany – remote but close to big cities like Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf. You can take day trips and there is an open-air swimming pool in Much (10km). The scout camp house also has a big outside area with a campfire place. Other towns along the river Rhein are Mainz and Koblenz.
