Description: CYA - LEARNING CENTER (CLC) started in 2014 and we are now providing a free alternative education for children and teenagers in Praphnom. Three classrooms were built and 285 students are now studying English with their international and local volunteer’s teachers. The Center is also providing computer course and one library is now access free for the community. Because of the fast development of this project, in 2016, CYA worked closely with local people in the community for income generation. For income generation program CYA is going to work on organic farming and handcraft to involve local people in the farming process and making local products to sell in the city. CYA also plans to create a weekend market where farming products and handcraft products will be sell.
Type of Work: • To engage with the local children and teenagers in daily work using English and interaction with international and national volunteers • To promote global education through participating in daily teaching and learning with the students of CYA Learning Center • To contribute in physical development/construction • To exchange and learn about Cambodian culture between international, national volunteers and local people • To explore unique experience of being able to explore the life feature that has not commonly seen by all • Visiting local village in purpose of seeing the real situation of living standard of the family in the village • To provide English teaching for the children • To organize inter-cultural sharing with the children in the community • Supporting the community project
Accommodation: The volunteers are going to stay in the volunteer hosue which is located about 100 meters away from the center. The accommodation is provided with sleeping mattress, mosquito net, pillows, and blankets. There toilet and shower room, but the the volunteers are going to share with each other. The food is going to be prepared by the hosting family, but we are asked to wash the dishes by ourselves.

Organization Description: CYA is a youth development organization who works to promote global education among Cambodian children and youth, improving living standard of the community, and actively preserves environmental resources through engaging with international volunteers who come from all over the world. CYA organizes workcamps, which allow global volunteers are to live, work, learn, share as family who is compassionate in discussing and solving global issues.
