Description: The Last Address (Russian: Последний Адрес, Posledniy Adres) is a civic initiative to commemorate the victims of repressions in the Soviet Union. The essence of the initiative is that simple people deserve to be commemorated, not only "VIPs" which typically receive memorial plaques. A small commemorative plaque (palm-sized) is installed on the houses known as the last residential addresses of those arrested. Every commemorative plaque is dedicated to one person only, with the project operating according to the motto “One name, one life, one sign”. “Last Address” was launched in Perm in February 2014. The first four plaques were installed on 10 August 2015.

Type of Work: Volunteers will organize events to perpetuate the memory of the victims of terror in the USSR and in Perm region. Volunteers will install memorial plaques of the "Last Address" project, and hold educational meetings, collect "oral history", memories from the local population.

Accommodation: Volunteers will be living in schools or local centres of culture, the food will be provided.

Approximate Location: Perm region

Notes: All necessary equipment will be provided by "Memorial". The organization will also cover expenses related to food, accommodation, educational and cultural events and local transport (from Perm city to the camp and back).

Organization Description: Perm regional branch of the society “Memorial” is a civic non-profit organization established in 1988. The aim of the “Memorial” is to engage young people in social and political activities, in civil actions and protection of young people’s rights. About 50 volunteers work in our organization taking care of 60 elderly victims of the Soviet political repressions. These volunteers tidy up flats, help with shopping. They also provide psychological support just visiting these people and speaking with them. Every year “Memorial” organizes about 6 workcamps with the main topic history and human rights, which are run in Perm region, in Urals.
