Animation Centre for Youth and Children

Main Aims and Activities (brief description of socio-economic context and of target groups served by the organisation) These principal objectives are achieved through the work of volunteers with a strong commitment to the association's aims and through co-ordinators working in the different activity sectors: - Children: with an activity centre and out-of-school club open all year. - Young people: with two facilities for young people and pre-teenage clubs. - Parents: informative workshop on the methods of the children’s education. - Leisure for all: with different activities (dance, drama, fun gymnastics, etc.) offered to the whole population based on demand and needs. Other associations use the premises to offer activities (karate, fitness sessions, etc.). Volunteer Tasks & Role (including indicative working hours) The volunteer will work in the Centre as a person who co-organises the ideas which the young people and instructors realize during the workshops. The Volunteer will initially be the instructors' assistant, but gradually her/his contribution to the content of the workshops will grow. Working hours: 4-6 hours/day, starting 12 o’clock Desired Volunteer’s Skills We are looking for an active, open, enthusiastic and creative candidates. Location (urban or rural, distance from main cities, climate, internet, etc.) Project is situated in the suburb area of the capital of Moldova – Chisinau. Chisinau is the main administrative, economic, scientific and cultural centre of Moldova. The city has just over 700,000 inhabitants and the whole metropolitan area is roughly one million inhabitants. In terms of number of inhabitants, Chisinau is the largest city of the country. Chisinau is divided in five administrative sectors; Botanica, Buiucani, Center, Ciocana and Riscani. It is often referred to as the greenest city in Europe due to the high proportion of well maintained green spaces. Duration Minimum (weeks) : 2 weeks Maximum (weeks) : 12 weeks Accommodation There are different types of accommodation:  A bedroom in the host family;  A bedroom in a flat out side of the project where 2-6 volunteers live together. It depends on the availability of the places for the time of your application. Food Volunteers receive food allowance Practical & Additional Information (i.e. what to bring, ) Check list –what you need to bring with you: o Bed clothes and towels; o Warm clothes and good, waterproof shoes in case of winter; o Some information about your country: pictures, maps, books, coins, recipes, etc; o Small gifts from your country to give to people in your host project.
