Charity Centre for Refugees

Main Aims and Activities (brief description of socio-economic context and of target groups served by the organisation) Main activities of the Charity Centre for Refugees (CCR) are services to refugees and asylum seekers, so that they could come and discuss their common interests and problems, participate in different events, meetings, seminars, etc; CCR organises entertaining activities for refugees and asylum seekers and their children like the International Women's Day, the International Children's Day, Refugee Day, New Year party, Christmas, CCR carries out ecological activities with the participation of refugees and asylum seekers; CCR provides Romanian, Russian and English language classes to refugees and asylum seekers and their children;CCR provides refugee children with a room equipped with furniture and toys; CCR organizes excursions for refugee children and their mothers on the territory of Chisinau city (to museums, zoo, etc.); Volunteer Tasks & Role (including indicative working hours) Volunteers participate in organization of language, computer lessons, outdoor activities, provide personal support to refugees, asylum seekers and their families, run activities for the children, organize different clubs, f.e. cooking club, pottery club. Working hours:: 4-6 hours/day

Desired Volunteer’s Skills Volunteer should be motivated to work in a multi-cultural atmosphere. The volunteer should be able to work independently and to cope with the existing social and cultural differences in Moldova and refugee community. For these reasons, characteristics such as flexibility, adaptability, maturity and personal motivation will be highly desired. Location (urban or rural, distance from main cities, climate, internet, etc.) Project is situated in the suburb area of the capital of Moldova – Chisinau. Chisinau is the main administrative, economic, scientific and cultural centre of Moldova. The city has just over 700,000 inhabitants and the whole metropolitan area is roughly one million inhabitants. In terms of number of inhabitants, Chisinau is the largest city of the country. Chisinau is divided in five administrative sectors; Botanica, Buiucani, Center, Ciocana and Riscani. 

Accommodation There are different types of accommodation:  Your own bedroom in the project, with access to a shared bathroom and kitchen;  A bedroom in the host family;  A bedroom in a flat out side of the project where 2-6 volunteers live together. It depends on the availability of the places for the time of your application. Food Volunteers receive food allowance. Practical & Additional Information (i.e. what to bring, ) Check list –what you need to bring with you: o Bed clothes and towels; o Warm clothes and good, waterproof shoes in case of winter; o Some information about your country: pictures, maps, books, coins, recipes, etc; o Small gifts from your country to give to people in your host project.
