Borobudur Young Guardian in Action Camp

Use of Participant Fees

55% àDuring workcamp (groceries for meals, cooking needs, drinking water, acomodation, material projects, transportation for project needs, petrol, stationaries, basic first aid, communication by campleaders). While for during LMTV (support meals, acomodation, support for transportation during projects when applicable, On Arrival training, support for transporation for staff visit and Middle Evaluation meeting with local partners).

20% à Donation for preparation workcamp/LMTV (meeting with local partners, focus group discussions, recruiting & organizing training for campleaders and peer volunteers) & post workcamp/LMTV (Evaluation meetings).

25% à Donation for GREAT to organize other events: Enrichment for PV, Bahasa Indonesia Coach, Office needs & taxes, Volunteer Houses Rent & Maintanance, Staff Salary & insurance, Paying membership fees of Networks NVDA & CCIVS, Paying costs of international meetings (Alliance, NVDA, SCI, CCIVS, GLMTV, etc), Capacity building of Staffs, GREAT of Cities, GREAT  Campleaders, GREAT Peer Volunteers, GREAT Trainers, GREAT Bahasa Indonesia Coach, Website and social media development & maintainence.

Visa for workcamp volunteers

Visa on Arrival (VoA):

30 days, can be extended once for another 30 days. Total : 60 days. There is some fee for VoA.

Free Visa:

30 days, NON EXTANDABLE. You just go to the border/ immigration check, tell the officer you will visit Indonesia for tourism. Prepare you return tickets just in case they ask for it. They will let you in by giving you Free Visa non extendable stamp in your passport.

Heritage conservation for young people both in manual and educational approach.


It’s the 3rd year of cooperation with Borobudur Conservation Office and local students club for the Borobudur conservation, name the Young Guardian Club (YGC) Borobudur. July is the month of YGC Training to recruit new members. Therefore, this workcamp will succeed the YGC Training as well. The project is in partnership with local schools.   1. To give opportunity for international volunteers to learn more about Borobudur temple compound and its conservation efforts.
  2. Using the experience of learning Borobudur, the camp aimed to promote heritage conservation for local youth/students through Young Guardian Club Borobudur.
  3. To organize YGC Borobudur training batch 10.
  4. To support the program planning of YGC Borobudur batch 10 period 2018 – 2019


  1. Participate in learning session on Borobudur conservation works: in the laboratory and in the field by cleaning the temple
  2. Designing and implementing School visit to local high schools: in the topic of conservation for young people. Consult to UNESCO KIT: World Heritage in Young Hands  https://goo.gl/X9KmGo

Accommodation & meal arrangement

Homestay with host family. Volunteers will share together sleeping space separately between females and males. No bed. Need sleeping bag. Shared bathroom. Self cooking by volunteers. Volunteers will make common rules, daily cleaning team and washing team and any additional needs together for their collective living group.

All about Borobudur temple and its conservation. Session about World Heritage with local officer of UNESCO.
