Kyeni Tree Nursery Project is an Environmental Based tree project and Its Vision is sharp focus on conservation of environment
in the rest of Kitui County which is arid. Our mission is to involve all the community members’ environmental issue in their respective capacities. Our core values are to practice traditional value of hard work, integrity, efficiency and fairness for the advancement and promotion of environmental, education and community development. We are combating global warming through environmental approach and community campaigns.

 Plants trees to revive the dwindling Kyeni community tree project
 Provide outreach and key support for environmental and outdoor education programs
 field trips, camps, after-school programs, and public programs
 Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of educational materials
 Assist in the tracking and evaluation of current Environmental educational programs and practical in Schools.
 Routine tree nursery maintenance
 Measure to Impacts of Climate change and global warming.
 provision of seedlings and seeds for planting in numerous public places
 Waste management and clean ups campaigns for community health
 Precaution to protect Water and encroached catchment’s areas.
 Conservation data collection, community mobilization, awareness and trainings.
 Suitable Environmental Utilization days & sustainable energy alternatives.
 Engaging community members and leaders


The volunteers will be accommodated with the host family, the volunteer will be preparing there food by the help of the family, tap water, no electricity but solar energy.

Volunteers Skills and Interests

Participants should have a positive attitude, be ready to adopt and enjoy simple living conditions, be flexible and patient motivated to learn about conservation, to work with children and adults and ability to speak English.

Project Fees 250 EURO for 2weeks which includes all Meals ,airport pick up and drop, transport to the project site.

Orientation Orientation will begin in the morning of the 4 th April 2018 at GVDA offices and you will be picked up from accommodation and taken to the orientation which will be conducted by GVDA staff in Nairobi and cover everything you need to know about your project placement. Introduction to Kenya and kamba land, kamba customs, and expectations, safety, travel opportunities in Kenya, introduction to your project and placement. The orientation will also give you a chance to meet other volunteers and swap contact details for weekend travel and socializing.

Leisure activities Most of our free time will be spent sharing culture and friendship with local community members and the other volunteers on the project, teachers, and children’s, visiting places
as planned with volunteers. There will be an opportunity to visit a local market, play games and participate in other community activities. There will be travelling to touristic sites. The Nzambani Rock, Kitui north national park, and environmental conservation
areas and soon.
