CENTRAL KGALAGADI GAME RESERVE
Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) is located around 150km northwest of Gaborone, capital city of the Republic of Botswana. CKGR is one of the largest
wildlife management areas in Botswana. Its natural scenery makes a perfect platform whoever wants to have great taste of Botswana landscape and climate diversity. The CKGR has been controversial ground between the government of Botswana and San people, main habitants of the area. The government of Botswana moved the San people out of CKGR to the village of New Xade, just outside the CKGR, where amenities are being provided freely. 20 years after the relocation of the San People from CKGR, there is small section of San people, who are resistant and want the wilderness life in the CKGR. Despite all these conflicts, there is peace and tranquility between the San people and volunteers at the CKGR. Sandy terrains and quite range of shrub vegetation characterize the CKGR. Sand dunes provide adventurous 4X4 driving and walking in some sites in the CKGR. A wide range of animals including white rhinos, elephants,
leopards, giraffes, elephants and a variety of small animals and birds are managed in the CKGR. Attendance to the workcamp in the CKGR gives one the opportunity to interact with desert wildlife and have a feel of the vegetation
survival in the hot and cold climate. In summary, CKGR is home to special ecosystem, which has unpredictable climate conditions at times. Thus, a must attend workcamp at CKGR in the year, 2017.
Visitors to the nature reserve can enjoy day and evening game drives and some educational lectures. It also has numerous camping sites. There are self catering chalets available for visitors of the Nature reserve.
The volunteers will assist in the maintenance of the footpaths and trails and helping in day to day business maintenance of the park. The volunteers will participate as a team in the whole duration of the camp. Volunteers can share and exchange different cultural forms during the workcamp.
CKGR provides accommodation in camping sites. Volunteers are also encouraged to bring their own tents.

It is very important to know that Botswana is the semi-desert country and has four seasons; spring, summer, autumn and winter. Spring (August, September, and October), summer (November, December, January,) and
Autumn (February, March, April) are hot seasons and cold season is Winter (May, June, July).
Volunteers are therefore reminded to bring required materials as per season, e.g. sun block creams for hot seasons and warmer clothes for winter times.
