Nature's Paradise

 

This National Park in the western part of the Himalayan Mountains in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh is characterized by high alpine peaks, alpine meadows and riverine forests. The park was established in 1984 and is spread over an area of 1,171  km2  at  an  altitude  of  1500 - 6000 m. The Great Himalayan National Park is the natural habitat of numerous  flora  and  more  than  375  species  of  fauna  (including   insects), several of which are threatened by extinction. In June 2014, the park was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites due to its "outstanding significance for biodiversity conservation.“

 

The Camp

The camp will focus on conserving the biodiversity of the great Himalayan National Park. This nature-lover’s adventure will be implemented in coordination with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Archaeological Survey of India and the Great Himalayan National Park, local schools and community.

• Interaction with ASI
• Learning sessions with the Park officials
• Bio-diversity conservation
• Tree plantation
• Awareness rally on conserving natural resources and ecology
• Conservation education at schools in buffer villages
• Drawing educational pictures to promote bio-diversity

Leisure activities:

Visit to different bird sanctuaries, tribal villages and cattle farms, interaction with tribals

Interaction with the local community on development issues

Location:

The location is Sairopa, in the district of Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, North India, which is 500 km North-West of Delhi
