RURAL HIGH EDUCATION
MI: 4 WEEKS - MAX. 16 WEEKS
Background: Implementation 9 years compulsory education that has been announced by government; Introduce basic skill for rising self-independent as well as preparing the students to be ready in continuing their study to higher educational level; Having social awareness toward environment, society, school and family; applying information technology in learning; able to use English as international language either active or passive; giving them basic knowledge and life skill in order to find their self-potential for their life. Rural High School Education divided into two educational services, secondary and senior high school. Those schools are implementing the curriculum standard national as their compulsory activities. Therefore, the students learn compulsory lesson such as Math, science, social, language, religious, physic and etc. In senior high school, the students are given more various program such as science, social or language class. The minimum educational access, learning method and human resource initiate them in collaborating International Voluntary Service activities to support their language program especially. Moreover, it provides extra activities in order to search and find student’s interest such as music, art, sport and technology. The students are good in swimming and badminton. They won several competitions every year. The school location might far from public service such as sport centre, shopping mall, or bus terminal. The local people characters are family oriented, having good friendship spirit, having plenty time to spend nevertheless they are less in touch with modern life and thinking.
Work: Intercultural activities through game, music, presentation, discussion and else; motivating the students actively using their English through interactive learning with volunteers; working together with teachers to collaborate in class activities; adapting Indonesian life and culture.
Study Theme: The volunteers will be introduced to the Indonesian culture and customs in general, with a special focus on the local particularities. Some cultural visits are also foreseen.
Leisure Time: During free time, the volunteers will have the chance to visit tourism places nearby project sites.
Accommodation: The accommodation and food will be provided by host project. The volunteer will stay at local host family or dormitory (to be confirmed). Facilities are simple and Indonesian style (no hot water, no internet, and no washing machine). No vegan (strict vegetarian), flexible vegetarian is still welcomed.
Location: Java, Sumatera, Sulawesi, Bali, Kalimantan, Lombok and other islands in Indonesia (placement depends on the availability of the project site)
Terminal: Semarang Airport, railway station
Special Requirements: No piercing on face, no visible tattoo, common hair style (no colorful, dreadlock).The volunteer should love to work with teenagers, open minded, be mature, respectful of local customs, tolerant, creative, flexible and sign the agreement. Never found guilty in a criminal case in home country or in another country. Pay extra fee partially for every visa extension at local immigration office if stay offer 8 weeks. Intake condition & restriction: No intake on Fridays and during Ramadhan; arrival should be on MONDAY; no pick up during weekend; no pick ups after 21:00 PM
Participant Fee: 300 € or 4.950.000 IDR/month
